Corporations mentoring their employees is an excellent concept. If strategically organized, this can bring multiple benefits to the organization, increase employee empowerment, productivity, and morale, as well as client satisfaction (if in direct contact). By “peer-to-peer” employee mentoring, you are setting yourself up to be a highly desired place to work, and marketing opportunities are endless. It is a huge cultural shift for companies that don’t apply this approach, and it does take investment to educate on “how to transfer tools and knowledge to others” before assigning them mentoring roles. Just because someone is excellent at their trade, it does not mean that they are good mentors. Mentors would certainly need to feel comfortable with their new role.

Corporations mentoring people is an interesting concept. I think that one of the big stumbling blocks for companies getting on board will be ROI. Someone from the companies will have to run these programs and with out direct ROI it may be a hard sell getting corporate "higher ups" to give it a green light.
