Five fun things to do at HR Tech 2011
The 14th HR Technology Conference & Expo is in Las Vegas this week, and we wanted to offer five fun things for your to-do list:
1. Try your luck.
It’s Vegas, right? You know what everyone will ask you when you get home. If you’re not a card shark, try the slots.
2. Live Tweet and try to meet with the social media influencers you follow.
Networking and discussing HR issues with peers is what this event is all about. Tweet about what you’re learning, but don’t forget to use the event hash tag, #HRTechConf.Need help mastering live tweeting? Mark Stelzner, principal at Inflexion Advisors, gave some great tips in a blog post back in 2010. If you tweet something that catches people’s eyes, you might be able to meet up with them at the event.
3. Check out the Monday night after party at Mix Lounge.
Nestled atop the Mandalay Bay Hotel is Mix Lounge, the destination for HR Tech attendees interested in having a little fun after a long day of sessions, demos and briefings. What could be better than simply heading up to the top floor of the convention’s hotel to enjoy a cocktail and some conversation?
4. Attend the Second Annual Great Technology Debate.
Tuesday at 8:45 a.m. marks the start of a discussion featuring two leading experts on HR technology, Jason Averbrook, co-founder and CEO of Knowledge Infusion, and Naomi Lee Bloom, managing partner at Bloom & Wallace. Listening to them should get you thinking.
5. Shake hands with the rich and famous.
Stop by RiseSmart’s booth (#334) on Monday or Tuesday to meet the real estate mogul and reality TV star, The Donald! Actually, it’s impersonator John Di Domenico, but it’s better than forking over the reported $10,000 the real Donald Trump charges just to shake your hand. You’ll get a complimentary framed and signed picture with The Donald. And don’t be shocked if you hear him say, “You’re hired!”
